Upcoming Summer IT Work – Server Migration Project

This summer, the IT Department at NIS will complete critical final work on our new server project. Below is a detailed schedule of tasks and impacted systems:

  • June 28: Initial preparation work (no expected disruptions).
  • June 29 – July 2: Optical fiber lines will be cut and reconnected, and firewall configurations will be updated. This may cause temporary disruptions to internet and IPBX telephone systems.
    • No phone on campus
    • No Internet Access on campus
  • June 30: Migration of network switches to the new Cisco Core will affect both internal and external networks, including printing services, finance systems, internet access, and telephones.
    • No access at school.
    • All cloud-based services will be accessible at home
      • Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint etc…)
      • Faria Systems (OpenApply, ManageBac, SchoolsBuddy)
      • Veracross
    • Anything on the file server or locally hosted server will not be accessible.
      • Times HR
      • Financial Server
      • Large File Storage
  • July 1 – 4: Data from the NAS server and part of the Hyper-V virtual machines will be migrated. Some file storage systems may be briefly unavailable.
    • Anything on the file server or locally hosted server will not be accessible.

      • Financial Server
      • Large File Storage
  • July 5 – 6: Final equipment checks and full system testing. No impact is expected during this phase.
