Dear Colleagues,
As part of our ongoing work to strengthen student data protection and ensure our compliance with the latest legal requirements in China, including the Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL), Cybersecurity Law (CSL), and the Cyberspace Administration of China’s Standard Contract Guidelines (2023, 2nd Edition), we are currently developing a clear and consistent approval process to make it easier for departments, teachers, and school leaders to request the use of digital platforms.
In the meantime, if you are considering using any new platform that requires students to login. Please speak with the IT Director before using the platform with students.
⚠️ Why this matters:
These platforms may trigger legal requirements under Chinese law, such as data transfer assessments, filing of Standard Contracts, or even possible regulatory reporting. Our policy requires that these checks happen before any student data is shared with external tools.
This process is not about limiting innovation, it’s about making sure we use tools responsibly and legally in our school context.
I thank you for your diligence with ensuring our continued efforts to keep our student information safe and secure in accordance to Chinese laws.
If you have any questions regarding this please reach out, and I would be glad to help you understand our requirements.
Thank you
The IT Department
