Student-Led Clubs

G10-12 students: share your skills and passions with younger students! Lead a club where you teach art, music, coding, or even study tips, and help others discover new interests and build confidence.

Please contact Ms Anna in the Activities Office before Monday, October 13th, 12 noon.

Main Gate Timings

Hi there,

The school is moving into the next phase of implementation of the Gate System. On Friday, Arek will be sending out a message to notify the community of this next phase. Gate timings below will begin Monday, October 13th.

Moving forward the Main Gates (near the swim changerooms) will have timed access as follows:

  • Monday – Friday
    • Open for G6-10 5:30am-6:30pm
    • Open for Prek-Gr5 and for Parents 7:30am-6:00pm
    • Open for pickup personnel 7:30am – 8:00am & 3:00pm-5:45pm
    • Open for G11-12 5:30am-9:30pm in café study lounge (Centre)
    • Open for scheduled activities through the Activities Office
  • Saturday
    • Open for parents, students PreK-10 from 10-3pm
    • Open for G11-12 5:30am-9:30pm in café study lounge (Centre)
    • Open for scheduled activities through the Activities Office
  • Sunday
    • Closed for parents, students PreK-10
    • Open for G11-12 5:30am-9:30pm in café study lounge (Centre)

The Activities office will make sure for all regular activities outside of these times that those who have signed up have access through the Main Gate. If there are any issues please let the Activities office know.

If you have any “special” activities outside of these times, please make sure to put in a Facility (General) Ticket through Teams (See How to guide). On the ticket indicate your activity name, the date, the times, and send a list of students/parents who will need access through the main gate. If you are inviting outside visitors onto campus, please connect with Wendy to plan.

ACAMIS Virtual Film Festival

The ACAMIS Virtual Student Film Festival 2026 is hosted by the Western Academy of Beijing. This festival is a celebration of student storytellers across China and Mongolia, providing young filmmakers with the opportunity to write, produce, and share their original films with our community.

This year’s theme is “Connect with Your Culture”. Students are encouraged to keep in mind the classical cornerstones of drama: intention and obstacle — what does my character want, and what stands in the way?

EARCOS Teacher Conference Presentations

The EARCOS Teacher Conference will be held in Bangkok 19 – 21 March 2026. The theme is ‘Elevating Voices, Enriching Worlds’ and the areas that will be the focus of the conference are: Literacy, Early Childhood, Learning Support and Special Needs, Modern Languages, Libraries, Counselors, ELL, Authors, Child Protection, Technology, General Education

NIS is able to put forward two presentations to be delivered at the conference (note: EARCOS has the final decision on all presentations). Presentations can be done individually or as a pair. NIS covers conference registration for staff that are chosen to present (flights and accommodation are not covered but can be paid with your PL fund).

If you are interested in applying to present, we will be holding applications Week 9 on Monday (12pm – 1pm) and Tuesday (12.30 – 1.30pm) in my classroom (D217).

Applicants will need to present a short (3 – 5 minute) pitch of their presentation topic, including why it is relevant for the conference and how it will provide participants with new learning in emerging trends and/or possibilities for practice within schools; and a sample activity that they would plan on including in their presentation (5 – 7 minutes). Pitches should be 10 minutes total, and will be assessed against the EARCOS Conference Session Design and Presentation Criteria.
