Monday Morning Briefing
Here are minutes for the Monday Briefing.
Reminder: Child Protection Training & Quiz
Hi Everyone,
A reminder that we have introduced a new asynchronous format for this year’s Child Protection & Safeguarding Basics Training. This training is an annual requirement for our accreditation and ensures that all staff are informed and equipped to uphold our child safeguarding responsibilities. The new format provides greater flexibility and personalization to support your learning.
Below are the resources you’ll need to review key information about child protection & safeguarding for this year:
- Child Protection & Safeguarding Basics Slide Deck – This gives a quick overview of essential child protection and safeguarding information, including data from China and CPOMS reporting for the 2024–2025 school year.
- NIS Child Safeguarding Handbook – Updated in May 2025, this handbook includes expanded definitions, updated flowcharts (including CPOMS processes), and revised roles and responsibilities.
- NIS CPOMS Childsafeguarding Cheatsheet – A quick reference guide for tagging incidents in CPOMS.
After reviewing the materials, please complete the Child Protection and Safeguarding – Basics Training Quiz. To meet the requirements, you must achieve a passing grade of 100%. The quiz can be retaken as many times as needed to reach this score. Please ensure that the quiz is completed by August 31, 2025.
If you have any questions or need further clarification, please feel free to reach out to Scott, Zhang Bo, or Sandra.
Thank you for your commitment to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for our students.
Secondary Battle of the Books
We will meet in LGR 1 (downstairs) today during lunch. Get or bring your lunch to LGR 1 for this first meeting!
Students Speak: A Global Documentary Project
Students from our sister GCD school in Madagascar are launching a global, student-led documentary on the real issues young people face today—such as academic pressure, mental health, and IB-related stress. They are inviting three motivated students from each GCD school to join the international team and contribute through filming, interviewing, editing, or organizing. Together, these voices will form one powerful film reflecting the diverse realities of our generation.
If you are interested, please contact Ms Anna before Wednesday for more information.

Oh Man – it is hot in Nanjing!
Given we are ‘lucky’ enough to have ongoing hot weather for the next few weeks, we will likely have more indoor breaks. As such we are making a few changes to the access of our indoor spaces when ‘indoor break’ is called.
Morning Break
- The Blue Gym will be open for Secondary students (supervised by PAC Grass BTT person)
- The Green Gym will be open for Primary students (supervised by Ping Pong and Pond BTT person)

Lunch Recess

Thank you for your support and flexibility as we perservere through the weather.
