Grade 8 and 9 Exam Rewrites Start Monday

Students who missed exams in grades 8 and 9 will begin rewrites on Monday. Their names can be found here. They will rewrite the exams in the order they are missed, so if the first exam they missed is English, they will write it first. If the first exam they missed is science, they will write it first, etc.

  • The first exam will be block one (8:00 am) on Monday in LGR 3. Learning support students will go to C142.
  • The second exam will be block four (1:00 pm) in D220.
  • For those students who missed 3 exams or more and can stay after school, there will be a third time slot at 3:05 in D220.
  • After this, students who still have exams will write at 8:00 am in D220 on Tuesday.

If this conflicts with assessments in subjects, let Jade know, and she will do her best to accommodate. If you teach these students and they arrive during your class, please check with them to see if they should be in an exam.

Community Survey – Last Day!

Hi everyone,

Just a quick reminder to complete the NIS Community Survey if you haven’t already, both as a teacher and, if applicable, as a parent. Your feedback is incredibly valuable as NIS gathers data to help guide our Mission and Strategy.

The survey closes TODAY, so please take a few minutes to share your thoughts!

Through Our Lens

Do we often socialize with people from different places/backgrounds as us? Why do some of us feel inclined to stick with the people who have the same mother tongue?  What affects where we sit in the cafeteria?

This year, videographers from the Video Review team are partaking in Through Our Lens, a student-led documentary project with 6 schools participating worldwide. The topic of our segment is “Social divisions based on nationality/ethnicity in an international community.”

WE WANT TO HEAR YOUR VOICE!

With this project, we aim to discuss the social rifts based on culture, nationality, and/or ethnicity in our community. If you feel that you have had an experience that aligns to our topic, have something to contribute to the discussion, or have a suggestion regarding how we can address these rifts as a community, we would be glad to interview you.

We are open to interviewing students from G6-12 (below G6 may be considered case-by-case) and teachers from all across campus. Please fill out the form by the 7th if you are interested.

Through Our Lens Interview Application – Fill out form

Interviews will be held from December 9-11 th. Please fill out this form by the 7th.

Please get in touch with Grade 10 Seoyun Jung if you have any questions.

EARCOS Teacher Conference + PL Opportunities

Participant registration has just opened for the EARCOS Teacher Conference, which will be held March 18 – 21 in Bangkok.

The theme is ‘Elevating Voices, Enriching Worlds’ and the focus strands for this year are: Early Childhood, Literacy, World Languages, Children’s Authors, Libraries/Media Tech, Technology, ELL, Learning Support, Counsellors, Child Protection, and General Education.

If you would like to attend the conference, please put through a PLD request as normal through the PLA form. We are able to send a limited number of people, so please make it clear in your application how this learning will enhance your teaching and the learning of students. We will also be prioritising people who have not previously attended an EARCOS Teacher Conference.

As well as the EARCOS Teacher Conference, EARCOS also has a range of great PL opportunities coming up in December and January.

If you have any questions about any of these opportunities, please come chat to me or send me an email.
